About Us

Our company began in 1978 as Electroacoustic Development Company, and was involved in loudspeaker and sound system design and installation. Although the company name was appropriate, many of our potential clients seemed put off by the length of it. And we learned just how many folks only read the first part of a business name as we started getting calls for vacuum cleaners! (Well, Electrolux does start the same way!) So we decided to create an identity more descriptive of our acoustical and sound-system design work. Thus, in 1981, EDC Sound Services was born. Our focus is on consulting in acoustical, electroacoustical, and sound systems.

Our company is owned and managed by Richard A. Honeycutt, Ph. D., and Betty Jane Honeycutt. As Primary consultant, Richard is responsible for consulting work and system design.

As a final note: Richard and Betty Jane are trained musicians, as well as having over 50 years' combined experience with sound systems. Both have performed professionally. So they bring to your project the best of both worlds: rigorous understanding of technical detail and a musician's sensitivity to "the sheer pleasure of natural sound."
